It is a big election year for cities around Lincoln County as four mayoral seats are up for grabs.
Troy, Eureka, Rexford, and Libby's mayor positions are up for a change. Donald Banning and Edward Hanson are running for the Troy mayor's seat. There are four people running for mayor in Eureka, including incumbent Dave Newburn and write-in Brenda Cavoretto. In Rexford, Don Gillard and Shirley O'Brien hope to become the city's next mayor and in Libby Douglas Roll and Peggy Williams are both vying for the spot.
The Lincoln County Administrator says mail-in ballots and the contended mayoral seats have brought out more voters this year. Lincoln County Elections Administrator Tammy Lauer says, "The contention of the races is going to make more people show up. In 2007, we had 38 people vote for the Eureka city election. This year way more, almost a little over a third has already voted."
Also on the ballot for the whole county, the option for changing to non-parisan elections.
If that passes the county would do away with party affiliations of candidates in local elections.
