The battleground has been set, a stretch of road along Highway 191 in Gallatin Canyon leading to Big Sky. That's where residents are fighting to keep billboards out of their backyards.
The battle has been going on for over one year. One billboard has already been put up. In September, residents asked the county commission to pass a new zoning ordiance that would stop anymore billboards from going up, and make the owner of the current billboard take it down after an amortization period of three years.
Commissioners didn't pass the ordiance citing concerns the amortization period wasn't long enough. Now, the citizen group has changed the amortization period in the zoning ordiance to 10 years.
The issue goes before the county commission for a vote tomorrow. Stay with the newschannel for the latest.
