On November 30, an Oklahoma man jailed for murder is up for parole.
J.R. Fletcher was convicted of deliberate homicide in 1979 for the murder of 72-year-old Roy Cooper.
In April of 1979, Fletcher skipped a parole hearing in Oklahoma and fleed to Montana with his wife Teresa and a man named Ronald White.
The trio planned to cross the Canadian border, but on April 7, stopped in Polebridge, Montana to steal horses from an area home.
After getting their vehicle stuck in the mud, they woke up Cooper to help them.
Eventually the three held Cooper hostage in his own home while they robbed him, and brutally tortured him.
Cooper died hours later of stab wounds to the neck.
All three were arrested in Idaho and later plead guilty to the murder.
Cooper's family is fighting Fletcher's chance at parole.
